c.8°34'S,114°00'E; near the southeast tip of Java, 60 km southwest of Banyuwangi,
Kabupaten Banyuwangi, East Java.

Area:
1,860 ha.

Altitude:
Sea level to 350m.

Biogeographical Province:

04, 05, 07 & 21.

Description of site:
A hilly coastal area with mangrove swamps, beach forest and lowland rain forest.

Climatic conditions:
Humid tropical climate with an average annual rainfall of 1,962 mm.

Principal vegetation:
Mangrove swamps with Rhizophora sp, Bruguiera sp, Avicennia marina, Sonneratia sp and Nypa fruticans.

Land tenure:
State owned; managed by BKPH Unit II, Jawa Tiniur.

Conservation measures taken:
The area has been designated as a Protection Forest (Hutan Lindung).

Land use:
Forest protection and nature conservation.

Disturbances and threats:
Cutting of wood and hunting.

Economic and social values:
No information.

Fauna:
An important area for several protected animals, including the Banteng Bos sondaicus. Other mammals include Muntiacus rnuntjak and Fells marmorata. No information is available on the avifauna.
