Study on Ant biodiversity in Vietnam

Objectives

  • To complete a comprehensive ant biodiversity survey of the various places in Vietnam including species in the Family Formicidae, within order Hymenoptera.

Research Theme

  • Taxonomy and Systematics

Activities

  • Pitfall trap, litter sifting methods will be used for litter and soil core samples
  • Hand collections with forceps will be used to sample ground foraging ants.
  • Cross-site or ecosystem-site comparisons will be made and calculating similar biodiversity indices.

Expected Outcomes

  • Improved knowledge and awareness of a neglected taxon which is really a hugely important part of the forest ecosystem.
