Biodiversity assessment of the Ha Long Bay Heritage Area and proposition of management plans
Objectives
- To inventory the species richness, aquatic resources, ecological conditions and their changes.
- To assess the marine biodiversity of Ha Long Bay.
- To conduct rapid appraisal of environmental conditions, utilization status, development activities and threats to marine biodiversity.
- To propose management plans which includes mapping of marine biodiversity zones in Ha Long Bay and community involvement in management work.

- Collection and assessment of the existing and secondary source data.
- Sampling and field survey.
- Conduct rapid rural appraisal.
- Process data and compute the biodiversity indices using Shannon-Wiener index.
Expected Outcomes
- Assessment of the marine biodiversity, as well as the conditions and problems of communities in Ha Long Bay Heritage area.
- Map of marine biodiversity zones in Ha Long Bay.
