The Genus Argostemma Wall. (Rubiaceae) in Malay Peninsula and Peninsular Thailand

Objectives

  • To get voucher specimens depositing in local Herbaria both in Thailand and Malaysia as references for botanical study and other related field (e.g. Agriculture, Pharmaceutical Science, Forestry etc.) in the future.
  • To have the revision work in the study area done. This would be a part of Flora of Thailand and Flora Malesiana, moreover, it would be the most important data for the monograph work of the genus Argostemma of the world in future.

  • Investigation of herbarium specimens of Argostemma

Expected Outcomes

  • The revision with full descriptions of Argostemma Wall. for the peninsular Malaysia and Southern Thailand. This would be a part of the revision of the family Rubiaceae for the Flora Malesiana.
  • The distribution patterns including maps of all taxa occurred in the study area.
  • New taxa and new records of genus in the region (if it is available).
  • The report on the status of the taxa found in the study area (common, rare, very rare or extinct).
  • Vouchers for references and study in future (line drawings, colored slides, spirit specimens and dry herbarium specimens)

  • Link with European collections. Scientific project could be improved by adding analysis of local endemism and protected areas could be linked to taxonomic training.
