Strategies for sustainable management of fisheries resources in Pasak Jonlasid Reservoir, Thailand through ecological and socio-economic assessment
Objectives
- To undertake an environmental characterization of the study area (including its natural resource endowments)
- To study the environmental implications of current as well as projected land uses in the study area and its immediate vicinities
- To assess the physical qualities of the water in the reservoir
- To determine the chemical quality of the water in the reservoir
- To assess biodiversity (fish, benthos, plankton, aquatic plants) n and around the reservoir
- To analyze the feeding habits of the key exploited fish species, in terms of diet composition and total food consumption both on an individual basis and the population basis
- To valuate the existing fish stocking systems in the reservoir
- To evaluate the potential for co-existence of a reservoir-aquaculture system of fingerling-rearing for re-stocking commercial species with an enhanced capture fishery
- To conduct socio-economic survey among villagers living in the area
- To assess the importance of the fishery resources in the reservoir to the surrounding rural communities.
