Biodiversity Assessment of Stoeng Treng RAMSAR Site

Objectives

  • To conduct preliminary assessment of biological resources (plant, fish, mammal, bird and reptile) in Stoeng Treng RAMSAR site
  • To identify major threats to biodiversity conservation
  • To provide policy recommendations for future management of the Stoeng Treng RAMSAR site

  • Compilation of existing data on plant, birds, mammals, fish, and reptile species
  • Identification of waterbird species
  • Identification of plant species
  • Identification of fish species
  • Identification of mammal species, including river dolphin
  • Identification of reptile species
  • Mapping the critical habitats and land use
  • Identification of threats through participatory rural appraisal
  • Zoning Stoeng Treng RAMSAR area for different management purposes
  • Development of policy recommendations for biodiversity conservation
  • Conduct a roundtable workshop to discuss research findings and obtain additional inputs

Expected Outputs

  • Increased knowledge of the biodiversity significance of Stoeng Treng RAMSAR site
  • Policy recommendations for conservation of endangered and endemic species and sustainable use of biodiversity in Stoeng Treng RAMSAR site
  • Database of biological resources.
