Resource assessment, economic valuation and identification
of alternative livelihood options in the areas within and surrounding
the Lamon Bay, Ragay Gulf and Tayabas Bay, Philippines
Objectives
-
To conduct a resource (marine, terrestrial and
human) assessment within the surrounding areas of Lamon Bay, Ragay
Gulf and Tayabas Bay;
-
To identify the marine and terrestrial resources
of economic and ecological importance on the surrounding communities
of the aforementioned sites;
-
To identify factors affecting changes (positive
and negative) on the marine and terrestrial resources;
-
To identify the areas where appropriate restoration
technologies may be applied;

To determine the economic importance of the marine
and terrestrial resources in terms of their market and non-market
values; and
-
To identify and pilot-test income-generating activities
which lessen the pressure on the utilization of marine and terrestrial
resources.
