Biodiversity and conservation of wild relative species
of rice
Objectives
-
To develop F1, F2, inter-specific population as
listed in the research proposal.
-
To use those population for the detection of alleles
with blast resistance in the field and analyze the type of resistant
genes present.
-
To study the genetic diversity of the population
and compare its morphological characters with the existing wild species.
Research Theme
Activities
- Develop the F1 and F2 population from the crossed: IR 64 x Oryza
rufipogon.
- Blast screening of the 5 families of BC2F3 population and their
parents in the field.
- Green house blast screening of ten wild rice species of Oryza.
- Evaluation of the agronomic traits and morphological characters
of the ten wild species of rice in the Muara Experiment Field Station
in Bogor.
- Preparation of cultures of the 2 families of BC2F3.
