ASEAN-Philippines referred the 1996 draft Financing Proposal to the Country Coordinator and to the ACU.
17 October
Undersecretary Delfin J. Ganapin, Jr. of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Chairman of the ASEAN Senior Officials on the Environment (ASOEN) informed the Philippines' Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) that the Draft Financing Agreement was acceptable to the DENR as the implementing body of ARCBC.
24 September
Ambassador Candido Rodriguez, Head of the EU Delegation in Manila, submitted the draft Financial Proposal on ARCBC to the Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines as the prospective host of the Centre.
20 - 21 May
During the 6th Meeting of the ASEAN Working Group on Nature Conservation and Biodiversity (AWGNCB) in Cisarua, Indonesia, the Philippines informed the AWGNCB that it was advised by the EC, through the Philippine Embassy in Brussels, that they were in the process of finalizing the Financing Proposal for the Project.
24 - 26 January
The Third Meeting of the 28th ASEAN Standing Committee in Jakarta, Indonesia noted that the proposed ASEAN-EU ARCBC be located in the Philippines. The Fact-Finding Mission (EC Identification Mission) completed its report regarding this matter and requested the Country Coordinator to ask the EU to circulate copies of the feasibility report through the ASEAN Brussels Committee (ABC).
