29 November - 1 December

The Second Meeting of the 28th ASEAN Standing Committee (ASC) in Jakarta, Indonesia noted that a Fact-Finding Mission was sent by the EC upon receiving the proposal for setting up ARCBC. The Mission completed its first phase and the second phase will be undertaken in January 1995.

19 - 24 September

ASEAN and EU Ministers stated in the Karlsruhe Declaration (paragraph 18) that they "look forward to an early establishment of the ASEAN-EU Centre of Excellence on Biodiversity Conservation" during the 11th ASEAN-EU Ministerial Meeting (AEMM) in Karlsruhe, Germany.

28 - 30 June

The Fourth Meeting of the 27th ASEAN Standing Committee (ASC) in Jakarta, Indonesia noted the submission of the ARCBC project proposal on 24 June to the EC through the Philippine Embassy in Brussels on the basis of its approval by ASEAN member countries. ASEAN Philippines, following the decision by the ASEAN Senior Officials on the Environment (ASOEN), requested and was granted approval by the ASEAN Standing Committee (ASC) that ARCBC be located in the Philippines.

20 - 22 April

The ASEAN Senior Officials on the Environment (ASOEN) endorsed the project proposal entitled ASEAN Regional Centre for Biodiversity Conservation (ARCBC) during its fifth meeting in Bandar Seri Begawan and noted the Philippines as the preferred project site.

12 - 13 April

The Philippine delegation presented the revised ARCBC project proposal (based on comments received from ASEAN member countries) during the 4th Meeting of the ASEAN Working Group on Nature Conservation and Biodiversity (AWGNCB).

21 - 22 January

The ASEAN proposed the establishment of ARCBC to the EC during the 11th Meeting of the ASEAN-EC Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) in Davao City.

13 January

The Philippine Embassy in Brussels apprised the EC on the ARCBC project proposal during the Preparatory Working Group meeting for the Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) in Brussels.
